Plagiarism

Becoming an academic
In higher education, students are expected to take on many roles by being a learner, researcher and an acdemic writer.

However, for many students, starting at a university is like entering an unknown world. They meet high standards for academic writing, but their writing skills often vary tremendously. Students coming directly from high school, from other educational institutions or from various parts of the world bring with them different academic cultures, traditions and skills.

The library website provides most all the information students will need in their academic writing process.

Fundamental to the academic writing process is the need for students to develop an understanding of why it is important to cite and refer, what plagiarism is and what consequences plagiarism can bring.

To support students in achieving this understanding, we have created an online learning resource where we, through video and assignments convey precisely why it is important to understand proper citing and what plagiarism is - and how to avoid it.
